self turns into different forms and shapes, giving each part its own individual choice based on a predetermined design -- a design which requires the different parts to eat each other. Like an animal eating a human. in this, we see we know very little about ourselves -- if 'knowing' were the goal, anyway. We can see that who we are as this gigantic self is a monster -- a huge complication. An evolving organism that adapts to it's surroundings, and for some reason decided it has to eat itself in order survive.
the question is, how did we create ourselves in this way?
